My journey to 10,000 steps a day! How to get more steps in your FitBit or Health app throughout the day
Being self employed and working from home a lot, I’m a very sedentary person. It sounds odd because if you follow my content regularly, you’ll know my health and fitness are very important to me.
However, like many people now, I go from an intense workout at the gym or a class, to sitting down for the rest of the day. Going from one extreme to the other is not always the most beneficial thing for your body, which is why you’ve probably heard health organisations recommend the 10,000 steps a day thing.
Walking is hugely underrated in the fitness industry, particularly in this day and age where Cross Fit and other very intense workouts are the ‘in’ thing to be doing, which leave most people unable to stand up the next day, never mind trot off on a 3 mile walk!
For many people seeking general health and wellbeing, setting your intense workouts at 3 days a week and getting plenty of walking in on the daily might be a better solution for a sustainable, enjoyable activity level.
Anyway, that’s what I’m trying at the moment and I’m really enjoying it so far. I definitely have a long way to go to be hitting 10,000 steps a day, but in today’s video I’m sharing some tips and tricks I’ve discovered so far to sneak those extra steps in throughout the day.
Once you’ve watched the video, I’d love to hear from you!
What are YOUR top tips to stay active and get those steps in throughout the day?
Do you have a FitBit or other activity watch and would you recommend it?
I think if walking carries on being important to me (and it should as it’s my main fitness goal for 2017) I may invest in one. For now I’ve just been going off the free Health app on my iPhone, which seems to be working quite well.
Look forward to reading your comments, and happy walking! ????
Love, Kat x
