Afternoon Tea at Slattery’s Whitefield

My experience having afternoon tea at Slattery, Whitefield in Manchester.

My Mum and I took a trip to Slattery‘s in Whitefield last week to treat ourselves to Afternoon Tea. For no other reason than just because! ????

If you’re in the Manchester area I’m sure you’ve heard all the amazing things about Slattery’s, but if you’re further away, you must pay them a visit when you’re next in the area.

They are an award winning Patissier and Chocolatier, open since 1967. You’ll find a lovely dining room there where they serve Breakfast, Lunch, Desserts and of course…Afternoon Tea.

Everything is prepared fresh in house and just tastes out of this world. They even serve their own chocolate coins with your tea instead of packet biscuits!

We enjoyed every bit of the Afternoon Tea, particularly their homemade cakes (the strawberries and cream meringue dipped in chocolate…was to die for!) and went home full, happy and with a doggy bag of the things we couldn’t fit in. For £15 each you get lots of food, so go on an empty stomach if you’re booking!

And book you must, because they were packed over lunch time. I only managed to get us a table for 2:45 and that was a couple of weeks in advance, so book as far in advance as possible if it’s a special occasion and you want a particular time.

You must visit the shop afterwards, where they have everything from DIY baking mixes, to walls full of handmade chocolate, cakes, bread and more. We couldn’t leave without a few bars – as much as I love a standard shop-bought bar of milk chocolate, there’s just nothing like theirs. It tastes 10x better!

More than anything, it was lovely to go and spend a couple hours out with my Mum on a Thursday afternoon ‘just because’. I highly recommend you do the same. There’s something so indulgent about it, and it was a welcome change to my usual Thursday afternoon desk lunch.

Book in a mid week lunch date with your best friend or loved one (even if you’ve “nothing to celebrate”), you won’t regret it!

Let me know if you’ve been to Slattery yourself, and share any other cute lunch/tea spots I need to visit next time.

Love, Kat x
