The trees are blossoming. The sun is peeking out every so often. Mini Eggs are now considered a food group in my diet. It’s Spring!
Today I wanted to share some transitional items I’m loving for Spring weather – because let’s face it, Spring is tricky to dress for. The temperature, the weather, everything is very temperamental. This outfit feels a good in between for any outcome, rain or shine!
Trench Coat
A trench is so great in between seasons. They’re lightweight and breathable, but still keep you warm on a windy day. The sandy beige tone of this is a welcome change in my usual dark and gloomy colour palette. Yes, the whole outfit underneath is dark, but I think a lighter neutral or even a pretty pastel works SO well for a Spring coat.
This trench coat has seen me through a few seasons now, and I find myself holding onto it even in Summer – it’s the perfect evening coat when the temperature drops and you’re wearing a Summer dress. It accompanies me to any Summer weddings and events!
Skinny Jeans + Shirts
You can’t go wrong with a well fitting pair of jeans and a nice shirt. It’s not quite hot enough for bare legs or a t shirt yet, so this combo keeps me warm. This shirt in particular is a beautiful crepe like material with an open neckline – so really light and comfortable, with just a hint of skin on show. I always like to have one really feminine piece in an outfit if I can, as my style tends to be structured and a little androgynous. It’s fun to get that balance!
Simple Jewellery
Just as I stop layering my clothes when the weather warms up, I also find myself layering jewellery much less. A simple piece here or there feels much more fitting. This beautiful rose gold moon and star necklace from Happiness Boutique* is a new firm favourite. The detail of the star fitted on the chain, and the fact you can adjust the placement of the moon is so pretty and a nice touch – I always love to be able to adjust my jewellery for each outfit. It really catches the eye and pairs perfectly with the neckline of this shirt. The rose gold is so flattering for all skin tones, but will look particularly gorgeous with a Spring/Summer tan, so I imagine this piece is going to be a staple in my accessories collection this year!
What pieces are YOU loving in your Spring wardrobe? How do you style a transitional outfit from cold to warmer weather? I’d love your tips in the comments below!
